A few months ago,the old primary desktop I used for MYOB AccountEdge went down. Not a huge problem, as I have backup files, and had proved proper AccountEdge 10.5 operation in a Mac OS9 emulator on newer macs. But, now that I need to get taxes prepped, my company file will not even open.
Dialog “unable to open the lock file; access privileges may be incorrect” shows on any of a dozen or so different saved versions of the file, even from several back-up drives. Trying to open the sample company file gives the same error message. There are no “.flk” files anywhere, nor “Access…” files as suggested by other potential fixes here.
I’m at my wit’s end, and down to one very delicate iMac G4 that will still open my files; my original MYOB serial # is not even recognized as valid, so what chances of upgrade?
